Discover annefiascone's Instagram Conner asked for a snack before bedtime. I was a little hungry myself, so I went into the kitchen to prepare a plate of cheese & almond crackers. Then I thought we needed something more nutritious than that, so I quickly sautéed bok choy and topped it with local raw aged goat cheese, raw fermented pepper flakes & microgeens...then sliced an avocado & topped with a little black sesame seeds & Celtic sea salt. You can only supplement so much with vitamins..
✔You are #alive because of calories. Without calories, your #body will break down its own muscle to survive which- apart from being super sad- will slow down your metabolism and send your hormones all out of whack! Eating less to lose weight is a myth- to an extent. It's all about how #nutrient dense those calories are!
Include:
Greens, vegetables, & #fruits of all #colors for disease-fighting antioxidant vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytonutrients (enzymes and nutrients that come from fresh foods of the earth). Avoid high starch vegetables that break down as starch or sugars like peas and corn.. Choose #vibrant nutrient-rich vegetables tomatoes, bell pepper, dark leafy greens, carrots, cucumber, avocado, radish;
Fats: bathes brain and cells, regulates body temperature, and promote healthy skin & hair (olive oil, nuts, seeds, egg, and/or #avocado );
 #Protein for #muscles #energy and amino acids- the #building blocks of #new cells, keeping them healthy (fish, meat, egg, #organic #tofu, tempeh, beans, nuts, and #GF grains for fiber);
 #Sprouted legumes/pulses (lentils, etc)
Acid for tastes, to stimulate the secretion of stomach acid, and to help create an uninhabitable environment for bad bacteria (apple cider vinegar with the mother, citrus). Spice it up! Add flavor from fresh herbs, chilies, spices, nut oils, vinegars..
If you have poor digestion:
 Half or more of your veggies cooked for easier digestion: baked sweet potato, roasted squash, mushrooms, grilled zucchini, roasted peppers;
