Growing up in a slightly inland city in Queensland, Australia; in a middle-class family in which neither parent was a foodie; I was hardly introduced to the finer things of life from a young age. This did not stop me from developing a deep appreciation for France- its rich culture, history, its impossibly beautiful language, and of course, its food.
This admiration never waned, even during my vegetarian/vegan period during which I would not even touch a croissant (and they are one of my favourite foods- very sad!).
I am still as mad about the French language and culture as ever, though I have a lot of catching up to do. Eating pâté still makes my stomach squirm, and I would like to work my way up one day enjoying foie gras! Please join me, and feel free to offer advice, as I see if it is possible to have the French joie de vivre in my very ordinary Brisbane life
