•A lady who everybody called Nan because she literally was everybody’s Nan. When I was young she used to babysit me whenever my Mum needed her to, she taught me the importance of manners and respect as she was big on that, she used to always tell me that I must always respect my mother, she saw more than most of us as she was born in 1920, she was kind, caring, thoughtful, charismatic, genuine, helpful and she would always stand up to wrongdoers and cuss their rass and I foreger admired her for that. One thing that I loved about her is that she would always speak to me as a kid, not at me, but to me and a lot of adults never
overstood that. Nan was not my biological Nan, but since I was not close to my actual grandparents I really appreciated her presence and all that she did for my Mum. I remember sitting there and watching them both talk for hours, go shopping together, they helped each other so much it was almost like mother and daughter at times. Nan lived life elegantly, gracefully, humbly, how she wanted to and although I regretfully didn’t see her as much as I should have in her latter years, she will forever remain one of the strongest inspirations in the form of a black woman to me; I’ve always been blessed to have strong black women around me and she was nothing less than Wonder Woman.
Condolences to the Mitchell & Jackson family for their huge loss xxxxxx Nan was 97 and lived like a 21 year old bless her... some of my fondest memories were laid to rest with her today as I got the opportunity to say farewell to a TRUE LEGEND and I want to wish her safe journeys until we meet again. You are with the higher power now•
