The mother is hit and child laughs. He learns to hit women. The cold truth of more than half of rural India.
Director: Navdeep Singh
Screenplay: Sudip Sharma
Cast: Anushka Sharma, Neil Bhooplam
The Bollywood indie movie follows Delhi-girl Meera (Sharma), an independent, self sufficient, working, married and ex-smoking addict woman. She is a workaholic and to treat her, her husband, Arjun (Bhooplam), decides to take her on a long due and much needed road trip.
On a pit stop to their final destination, a young woman, Pinky, stops and pleads Meera to help her and her husband. Meera shrugs her off but soon Pinky and her husband are carried off by a bunch of gangsters.
Arjun tries to intervene, only to be humiliated.
Go watch how his ego lands Meera and himself in deep trouble with the gangsters.
The movie is a strong female driven story about the patriarchal society that India so heavily depends upon. It is loosely based upon the Babli-Manoj Honor Killing case of 2007.
Since you guys know how much I love indie movies, you should know that an indie movie in Bollywood is a blessing. Now shoo. Go watch. BYEEEEEE.
