This time I decided to analyze some design piece, that is in my personal use. I love this UniPin pen, and I find it being absolutely gorgeous. But before diving deep into its wonderful composition, let’s just admit how great it is functionally. Being an industrial designer, I’ve used a lot of different fine line pens for drawing and sketching, but UniPin is definitely my favourite.
First of all, it’s ink becomes dry immediately, and it’s awesome because you have zero chance to smudge it.
And the second – I feel like UniPin lifetime is approximately twice longer, comparing to all other fineline pens I’ve ever tried.
I suppose, those two things are connected – this pen uses the minimum amount of ink, needed for a stroke. It makes the ink faster to dry and prolongs pen lifetime. So great!
Also, UniPin feels perfectly comfortable for grip. It’s very lightweight, 1cm in diameter and 12,5 cm long without a cap, which feels perfect. And also, it has a great matt surface, that prevents hand sliding and is so pleasant to touch.
It would be wrong not to mention it’s gorgeous appearance. Black matt surface, beautiful steel holder and the small window to see the nib.
And of course, compositionally UniPin has an absolutely perfect grid. The overall height is divided into 25 and width into 3 sections. All functional and graphic elements are corresponding to this grid.
Briefly saying, I’m excited about this design. Do you have the objects that make you feel like that?
