Discover diaryofalondoness's Instagram Cecil Court, which dates back to the 17th century, was named after Queen Elizabeth’s spymaster Robert Cecil. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart lived at No 9, and it’s argued that he composed his first symphony here. In the 1930s it was named Flicker Alley due to its association with the film industry (it was the place to buy a film in Edwardian London). Other notable residents include John Gielgud, T.S. Eliot and Ellen Terry. Today it’s referred to as Booksellers’ Row due to the volume of second hand and antique bookshops which line the street. It’s said to be the inspiration for Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley – what do you think?

Discover diaryofalondoness's Instagram If you see one west end play this autumn, make sure it’s Ink. It follows a young Rupert Murdoch (played by Bertie Carvel, the ex-husband we love to hate in Doctor Foster) and his first year at the helm of the flagging Sun newspaper. He seduces Larry Lamb (Richard Coyle) into the role of editor-in-mischief, and bang - The Sun as we know it is born. We follow the Machiavellian machinations of the tabloid duo as they attempt, and succeed, to knock the rival Mirror off its inky pedestal, and in the end, the solution is titillatingly simple. But in case you haven’t guessed how, I won’t give it away.  Ink is on at the Duke of York Theatre until 6 January 2018.
