More than a few things going on in this image.
Let’s talk about Building Permits.
First off, I’m proud of the building permits attached to any renovation of mine.
I print them as large as 11X17 and laminate them to last the entire reno.
I currently have 6 permits on the #127Project, we started in late May 2017.
We have 4 more revision permits coming our way and soon to be added to this window.
I have always been good about staying on top of all of the paperwork attached to any project.
For most of us, its easy to just build it but we have to remember to properly close a permit, you need to close what was built.
Lastly, have a look at the top row, the far right permit, the new addition to the bunch.
That is the approved building permit for underpinning 3 walls and benching the party wall.
The neighbour…what can I say about the neighbour?
They didn’t want to work with us, they didn’t want to discuss options.
Nothing but their way.
They told us what was gonna happen and it wasn’t gonna be underpinning.
Absolutely not, I heard that statement more than a few times.
They actually yelled at me more than once and told me to repeat what they said.
I never did repeat their words.
I never raised my voice.
I never became a prick.
I never expressed any sign of defeat.

Be neighbourly, just be neighbourly and at least discuss options.
Don’t ever tell a contractor who cares about this industry, who has kept a safe and clean job site, who has been neighbourly with others, who respects tradespeople and the career they have chosen, who works with skilled and talented people, never tell a GC what to do when you don’t know Jack Shit about construction.

Push some, a some will push back.
@dgrconcreteforming will be handling the underpinning and they are one of the best in the business.
Watch for the posts as this will be hard work, cold, wet, muddy and fun filled days with plenty of expressos.
Stay for the all of the neighbourly love yet to be expressed on site.
I encourage everyone to grab a bag of popcorn, I have mine.
